I am trying to set up my email account in Outlook which I have installed via Office on a laptop with Windows 8. I can access the email using Outlook Web Access but when I try to set it up in Outlook a window keeps popping up asking for my username and password. If I continue Outlook eventually sets the account up as a pop type account but I would like an exchange type account so I can access my calendars and appointments, etc.

Outlook Setup Problem. Do you have any suggestions I could try to get this account set up correctly as an exchange account in Outlook ? Hello Randy, Since you’re experiencing difficulties in configuring a Microsoft Exchange Server email account in Outlook, I suggest you to post this in the following TechNet forum for better suggestions.

Thank you. Was this reply helpful? I was able to copy the file, rename the copy and substitute it for the original. It simply created a new protect file when I rebooted and now all my passwords are removed from all accounts on my computer. I am still getting the popup prompt exactly as before. Not only did these suggestions not work, now my address book is empty.

All of my contacts are gone!! Did you try re-adding the account after performing the steps? If no, let us remove and re-add the email account and check. As for the missing information in the Address book, you may check and verify the Outlook profile you have logged into. The Outlook data would be present in the old profile, so you may have to switch over to the old profile and check.

For the past few weeks I have been having problems with Outlook repeatedly prompting me for my password. I am running Windows 7 and using live. The dialog box appears with the remember password box checked.

I re-enter my password but the box immediately reappears. I try this a few times and then click cancel. Sometimes the prompt reappears, usually if I try to send an email.

Sometimes even though the status bar says “need password” email is sent and received anyway. The following is what I have tried, without success, to resolve this problem:. Sometimes this problem is worse than others.

I have noticed that I can be logged on all day and then almost like clockwork at 6PM ET the password prompt appears.
